On June 22, 2023, volunteers from the “Good Samaritan Mission” based in Rivne, Ukraine, were in the Kherson region, delivering emergency aid packages to victims of flooding caused by the collapse of the Nova Kakhovka dam. When the volunteers were in the Antonivka village (collapsed bridge from earlier war events), their location was compromised and the Russian army targeted the volunteers’ van with mine shelling. As the 3 young men jumped into the van and started to drive away, two more mines flew at them. One hit the van, injuring two volunteers. A mine fragment went through the side of the van, the panels, seat and went into 25 year old Petro Boryshkevich’s side, stopping right before touching the bone. 23 year old Ilya Kononchuk was also injured, but thankfully, the injury was not life-threatening. Unfortunately, Petro’s bleeding couldn\u2019t be contained, so he had to have an emergency surgery in Kherson. He is in stable condition and will be transported to Rivne for further medical attention. We praise God for the miracle that all volunteers made it out alive.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
